WICKED LOVE: THE MARIA KORP STORY
In February 2005, a masked attacker burst into the home of a happy
Melbourne housewife, bundled her into the boot of her own car and drove
away. Abandoned near the city's Shrine of Remembrance, Maria Korp
(played brilliantly by Packed to the Rafters' Rebecca Gibney)
spent days trapped in the back of the car slowly dying, but hoping all
the time someone would rescue her. As she waits, she relives her life,
trying to understand how she got there. And what a fascinating life it
is. From her perfect wedding to a husband who idolised her, we watch as
things take a strange turn when Joe Korp (Vince Colosimo in
award-winning style as a charmingly suburban lothario) meets and starts
a second relationship with a woman who is everything his wife is not.
When the two women find out about each other, they come to a bizarre
and for a time workable agreement to share his love, but eventually
it all comes unstuck. Based on the real life of Maria Korp (Gibney
freely admits dramatic licence has been taken) and the "body in the
boot" case, this is a must for anyone who remembers the headlines
